“My husband and I are usually out and about and traveling, but Norman has caused us to be home and slow down.

We have spent every weekend at home and now have a greater appreciation for the city.

We take long walks through the park and spend more time at the dog run, because Norman loves it.”

They get along great, but Norman can be annoying because he wants to play more than she does (she’s 11), he gets the message most of the time and backs off.

We’ve had Norman four month and he’s such a ball of energy.

He’s funny; he’s that goofy puppy that makes everyone laugh.

He’s got long legs that he will hopefully, grow into, but right now he’s very uncoordinated and constantly tripping over his own legs.”

Zimmy, short for Zimmerman, the German Shepherd mix rescue named after Bob Dylan (part 3)

“He had crazy looking ears and a great soul.

I got him on June 1st, and I call that summer, my summer of Zimmy, because I was off from work and spent every day with him.

We went to the beach, hiked mountains or had some sort of daily adventure.

When I got him, he was about a year old.

He has been the love of my life for the past nine years.”

“Niko has given us reason to do things that we might not have done without him.

I would’t have just gone for a walk in the park by myself, but now I take Niko and walk for hours.

Niko has brought my fiancé and me closer together.

We care for him together; he is a shared responsibility.

He adds more flue to our family.

He is also a stand-in, or partner and companion when one of us is traveling.”

“This past fall we were tubing and Niko got out of the tube and his life vest.

He realized he couldn’t get back to us.

He realized he couldn’t swim against the current. ¬†Luckily, he swam to shore, which was ten yards away.

We panicked when he started sprinting on the shore away from us.

We got to shore quickly and threw a stick, which he loves to catch.

Thankfully, he came running over.”

“The timing was right for us to get a dog.

We both grew up with families that had dogs and we knew down the road we wanted a dog.

We each wanted a dog (individually), but it was never the right time.

Eventually, I was working from home and my girlfriend was in school and we were able to train a puppy.

They need to go out every two hours and require constant monitoring.”

“I like the Schipperke and had thought about getting one when I was single a few years ago.

I am glad I waited.

Niko is a perfect mix of the dogs we liked.

He was the ultimate compromise.

I think Niko has changed my life in a positive way.

He gives us a reason to get up and around.

He’s motivation to get off the couch.

We see the sunrises and sunsets every day.

We walk all over the city and we travel with him.

He has a great attitude and he’s always up for an adventure.”

“My boyfriend and I grew up with dogs.

I grew up with Shepherds.

He grew up with smaller dogs, like cockapoos.

We both knew we wanted a dog, but were long distance for a year.

We argued about what kind of dog to get.

He really wanted a Husky, but I didn’t like the idea of a big dog in the city.

He did a lot of research and found the Alaskan Klee Kai.

The breed was started 30 years ago and is a cross between the Siberian Husky and the Schipperke.”
