“The kids love to play with her, and they help with the walking when they can.

We also have given in to getting a dog walker sometimes because it takes the pressure off of us.

I can take the kids to activities like soccer or dance after school without worrying about running home to walk her.”

“My son wanted a bigger dog.

We had a Bijon Frise before Scout who wasn’t friendly, but I grew up with a Labrador Retriever and knew their good temperament.

Half of my family is allergic to dogs, which is why we had a Bijon.

We decided to give the Labrador a chance with restricted access around the apartment.

She doesn’t go in any of the bedrooms.”

“My oldest, who is allergic is off at college and my husband is coping.

He took shots for a few years with our last dog, (who was supposed to by hypoallergenic), but has since stopped.

Scout has not only cheered up my son who asked for her, but is a great addition to the family.

She is a therapy dog.

Scout makes everybody happy.”

Yoda, the Rescue Pug Who Needed Some Loving (part 4)

“A week before Christmas his original owner left me a voice message saying, she finally recognized that it wasn’t fair for Yoda to be alone and not getting the attention or training he deserved.

She knew and trusted me enough to know that Yoda would be better off with my partner and me.

She dropped him at my apartment on Christmas Eve of 2017.

That was almost a year ago.”

“I work in child care and saw her at the end of day pick up in the playground and talked to her almost every other day.

When he was five months old, she surrendered Yoda to her brother in Pittsburgh, because he wanted a dog, but his wife, who had just given birth did not want a dog, let alone a demanding puppy.”

“My wife really wanted a dog, and had been asking to get one for three years.

She had been showing me photos and videos of Newfie’s, and already had a breeder in mind.

My main holdout was the time commitment to a dog, but I agreed after three years, basically, because she wore me down.

I also realized that there would never be an ideal time, so now was as any.”

“I made a spread sheet dog friendly apartments on the Upper West Side.

We finally found a prewar building near a subway station, as well as Central Park.

We have only been in NYC for 2 1/2 weeks.

Rosie is doing well as far as adjusting to her new home and city.

The biggest challenge is her wanting to only to the bathroom on grass.”

“I interviewed each one over the phone and then selected the breeder I wanted based on their philosophy.

They rescued a lot of female Newfoundland dogs and put them in homes in their community and when they were ready for breeding, they housed them with the male Poodles.

When the puppies were born, they cared for them personally.

They did temperament testing so the adopter could be suitably matched to each puppy.”
