Roxanne, the International Rhodesian Ridgeback Puppy (she said, part 6)

“It’s not so much a particular situation, but rather the process of loving her and sharing her with my boyfriend that has enhanced our lives.

Roxanne has awoken maternal instincts in me that I wasn’t aware I had.

She has shown me the I can be responsible and diligent if something is important enough.

She makes my boyfriend and me feel like a family.

I do a lot of the walking and feeding because I can, but when my boyfriend is home he adores her and they spend a lot of time playing together.

It’s wonderful to watch them.”

Scout, the Labrador Retriever that brought joy to a family (part 5)

“Scout has been a great distraction for the family side our oldest child went off to college.

Everyone misses her, but Scout is like a new family member as well as a new responsibility.

She needs a watchful eye because she is a puppy.”

Gracie, the Chihuahua and Boscoe, the Pit Bull Terrier, Rescues (part 4)

“She was infested with fleas and heart worm.

Someone who saw her littermate wandering the streets gave him to a friend.

She was a pound and half, sitting in my hand with bugs jumping off of her.

I took her to our vet right away where she had a flea bath and got pills for her heartworm.

I since sold the trailer park and took an $80,000 loss, so I call Gracie my $80,000 dog.”

Tina, The Italian Greyhound/Terrier/Whippet/Beagle Mix Rescue From Social Tees (He Said, Part 6)

“It’s just so comforting to come home after work to such a loving dog.

We went home to the U.K. for three weeks over Christmas, and had to leave her in NYC.

We missed her so much.

I came back before my wife, and when I picked her up from the dog sitter, we were both so happy to see each other.

Tina leapt into my arms.”

“My husband and I wanted a dog for years, but it’s never been the right time.

We originally fostered Tina, for Social Tees.

We thought we’d start off by fostering, before adopting.

I started following Social Tees on Instagram, and then my husband and I applied to be foster care givers.

We were approved straight away.”

Dodger, the mini-schnauzer, cairn terrier mix rescue from the NYCACC (center for animal care and control, part 5)

“Dodger loves to go hiking.

I feel comfortable letting him off leash on a trail.

He always keeps me in his eye’s view and never wanders far.

It’s almost like he’s on an invisible leash.

I had him thru my 20’s and he’s taught me a sense of responsibility.

He’s helped me get through some hard times in my life and he’s a great stress reducer.

He’s lived on both coasts with me and is always there for me.

Dodger is my family.

“I didn’t mind those things because i was ready for anything from a shelter dog.

it was love at first sight, when I met Dodger.

I am sure he was a little shy, but he was very sweet.

All he needed was a little TLC.

He’s so sensitive and has been amazing during any romantic breakups I’ve gone through.

I went through a breakup in January and he was always right next to my leg.”

“I’ve had Dodger over 10 years.

I had just finished school and I wanted a best friend.

My family always had pets.

I felt like there was that whole in my life that needed to be filled.

I tried several shelters in the NYC area and the last one I went to was the CACC.”

Anubis, the Papillon/Chihuahua mix and Dima, the Pomeranian/Husky mix (part 7)

IMG_2340-2

“Having the dogs has brought a calmness to our relationship.

Anubis and Dima are the center of attention, as opposed to smaller issues that don’t seem so important anymore.

The joy and responsibility they bring to us, definitely makes us feel more like a family.”

“I am really busy with school as is my girlfriend.

We are also busy with work, and sometimes it’s difficult to take care of them.

We often discuss which one of us will do the last walk at night because we are both tired and want to go to sleep.

It’s always me, but she does the morning walk, so it all works out.”
