Norman, the Goofy Shepherd/Husky Puppy That Makes Everyone Laugh (part 2)

“Muddy Paws partners with Best Friends Animal Rescue, so I felt good about the organization.

I filled out an application and there was a phone interview.

Once I was approved I started looking online at the puppies and dogs for adoption.

After four weeks I saw Norman’s photo.”

CHEWIE, THE BORDER COLLIE/MINI AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD LIFESAVER (PART 4)

IMG_3314-2

Chewie knows when I am unhappy.

She gets very upset if I am crying, so I try not to cry in front of her.

If she feels that I am sad or upset, she won’t leave my side.

The most joyous moment I can think of, was the first time I brought her home.

I realized that with Chewie, I am not alone; that we are going to go places together.

She acts as a service dog.”

“I was lonely and felt that I didn’t have any life in me.

My psychiatrist told me to get a dog.

That was 7 years ago.

While I was on vacation I saw a Border Collie that I liked a lot and I thought, this is the kind of dog I want.”

STELLA, THE EMPATHETIC BORDER COLLIE (SHE SAID, PART 4)

Stella is dependent on me, but she is also a great comfort.

I know that she is always here for me.

Once I was driving I got lost.

My phone battery died and I had no GPS.

I had no way of getting in touch with my boyfriend.

I was frustrated and frightened.”

“We used to travel a lot.

Now we alternate traveling or we board her.

I miss her when we go away, but I know she is happy.

She is always happy.

When I miss my family she helps me.

After we Skype, she is always close to my body.

She makes me feel less lonely when I miss them.”

POPPY, THE SMOOTH COATED BORDER COLLIE RESCUE (PART 2)

IMG_8505

“She was not cuddly because she had been in the shelter for two months.

She was surrendered by a family, at age 1.5 years.

Poppy had no manners.

She had no training at all.

She had never been on a leash and had no impulse control.”

ANUBIS, THE PAPILLON/CHIHUAHUA MIX AND DIMA, THE POMERANIAN/HUSKY MIX (PART 6)

IMG_2322-2

“I am really busy with school, as is my girlfriend.

We are also busy with work, and sometimes it’s difficult to take care of them.

We often discuss which one of us will do the last walk at night because we are both tired and want to go to sleep.

It’s always me, but she does the morning walk, so it all works out.

Having dogs has brought a calmness to our relationship.

Anubis and Dima are the center of attention, as opposed to smaller issues that don’t seem so important anymore.

The joy and responsibility they bring to us, definitely makes us feel more like a family.”

“Dima (the Pomsky) always looks like he’s smiling and it makes me want to grin too.

Anubis (the Chion) loves everybody and was excited to make a new friend when we brought Dima home.

Dima takes time to warm up to people and it took him time to get used to living with Anubis.

Now, they love each other and he even lets Anubis in his crate.

He knows Anubis always wants to be near someone.

They are best friends.”

“The litter was running around in open farmland and playing with one another.

I met them and spotted him immediately, because he was the only one with different colored eyes.

I got to pick him up, and I loved him right away.

He was less fluffy and looked more wild.

I didn’t see the Pomeranian in him, but I didn’t care.”

“Two veterinarians said he is a Papillon Chihuahua mix (Chion), and it’s pretty obvious.

He has Chihuahua eyes.

After having Anubis for six months, I decided to get another dog.

I wanted a Husky since I was little but living in a NYC apartment, we thought a smaller version would be better in our space.

I started looking at Husky mixes.”
