Jarvis, The Golden Doodle Puppy that was born the day We got engaged (part 2, she said)

” Jarvis was delivered to my front door in Manhattan.

He arrived a month after my last dog died and at first I was not used to having a puppy.

I was used to a fully trained dog, that was mine, alone.

Jarvis is mine and my finance’s.

It has been a learning experience for both of us.

It was tough on us at first with the training and all the walking.

He was also an added stress to the wedding planning-but a good stress because we were able to communicate better.”

“My dog that I had for five years died in May.

My fiancé and I decided we wanted a Golden Doodle because we heard great things about them, and mainly because they don’t shed.

I found Jarvis online on Orchard Pups website.

I talked to the breeder on the phone and she sounded very trustworthy and I read a lot of positive reviews about her.

Also, Jarvis was born on the day I got engaged.”

Penny, the Dachshund Mix from Rescue Dogs Rock (part 1, she said)

“Our friend, Julia had two dachshunds, Henry and Joshua and we just fell in love with them.

So, I thought we wanted a dachshund.

My boyfriend and I love dogs and felt like it was time to get one.

We both had time consuming jobs, but started working from home, so it seemed like the right time.

My partner started googling Dachshund rescue on Pet Finder and Penny popped up on the screen.

She is a Doxie mix and her photo was the cutest dog we’d ever seen.”

Susu, the French Bulldog that provided comfort and stability (part 5)

“It’s hard to leave any dog behind.

You can’t communicate with them and tell them you will back.

I leave her with either a family member or a friend that she has a relationship with.

When we see each other for the first time after I return, there is no calming her down.

She doesn’t even bark, she wiggles and licks my hands.

I can’t pet her right away, I just let her lick my hands and do her thing.

It’s the one time I let her lick me excessively.

It’s the best feeling to come home to her.

I reminds me just how much I mean to her and she means to me.”

Ellie (short for elephant), the French Bulldog that is an entertaining clown, and great comfort (part 1)

FullSizeRender-284

“I’d been wanting a Frenchie for a few years.

They are like clowns; they have funny temperaments.

I was a college student so I couldn’t afford to get a dog, and I didn’t have the time to care for one either.

I graduated from college last May and then a few weeks after that, my sister died in a car accident.

She was 20 years old.

My parents thought it was time for me to get a dog.

I wasn’t working yet, so I had a lot of free time.”

Anchoas, the Bright and Happy King Charles Cavalier Puppy (part 4, she said)

“The main thing was potty training him.

He took to it pretty quickly, but there were still lots of accidents.

Half of the laundry every week were blankets and sheets that he had pee’d on in his crate.

It was hard for him to hold his bladder overnight.

We are past that now.

I am really proud of him because he is only 4 1/2 months old.”

Ike, the rescue Boxer, Chow, Collie, Lab and Hound mix (part 1, she said)

“Our daughter had been asking for a dog for ten years and my husband was adamantly against having a dog in the city.

Then one day he said, yes.

During a frigid winter two years ago, we decided we would wait until May, but two weeks into March we saw this beautiful dog being walking in Tribeca.

We thought, this is the kind of dog we would like someday, only to find out that he was being fostered and available for adoption.

Two days later, Ike was ours.”

Bruce, the fearless French Bulldog (part 1)

“I’ve always been a dog lover and I knew that I wanted a dog for a long time.

When I found Bruce, I knew he was the one for me.

I got him from a breeder in Missouri.

It was a family friend who knew the I’d been interested.

I wanted to rescue a dog, but with all my traveling as an actor, I needed to make sure that I had a small dog that could fit under my seat in an airplane.

The breeder knew I wanted a small dog and Bruce was the runt of the litter, so it was a good match.”

Bruce, the Fearless French Bulldog (part 2)

“I love his smushed face. I think it’s perfect.

I grew up with big dogs.

Bruce has a big dog personality in a small size.

He’s like a line backer.

He likes to play with the big dogs as well as the small ones.

He’s fearless.

He’s really social, which is one of my favorite things about him.”

Lulu, the Maltipoo (part 2)

“We had a medium sized dog all picked out–a cockapoo.

I brought my son to the pet shop and the cockapoo was too hyper.

A trainer at the shop said, that dog is not for you.  He could tell by my son’s wary body language that he was afraid and it wasn’t the right fit for us.

All the dogs were going nuts and were hyper, except Lulu.

She was just laying there peacefully.

The trainer brought her over and my son held and hugged her .

It was really cute and that was it.”
