“We chose Rosie because of her spots, as well as seeming a bit more independent than the other puppies.

Once they were old enough for adoption, my wife got on a plane and went to Detroit and brought Rosie home to Washington D.C.

It was really difficult when we first got Rosie.

She was still a puppy and took up all of our time.

She needed 24/7 supervision in the beginning, but after two months of development she became less needy and demanding, and more independent and housebroken.

We just lived through it.”

“My wife really wanted a dog, and had been asking to get one for three years.

She had been showing me photos and videos of Newfie’s, and already had a breeder in mind.

My main holdout was the time commitment to a dog, but I agreed after three years, basically, because she wore me down.

I also realized that there would never be an ideal time, so now was as any.”

“My wife and I were a long way from home and just missed that family vibe in the house.

She did a lot of research.

She grew up with Mini-Schnauzers and felt comfortable with them.

She got her first mini-schnauzer when she was seven and decided that was the dog of choice for us.

We bought him in the Netherlands.”

Java, the Apricot Hypoallergenic Labradoodle Puppy (part 7)

“I knew having a dog would enhance my life, because the last one did.

You become part of a community,

It’s like having another child.

All the things you do with you with a kid, you do with a dog; training, caring, socializing, being responsible for another living being.”

“We lost our dogs of 17 years and waited a respectable amount of time to get another dog.

After a year, we decided to get a Labradoodle.

Our first dog was a rescue and shed an incredible amount, plus our nephew is allergic to dogs, so we knew we wanted a non-shedding/hypoallergenic dog.

We have a friend who has two doodles from Java’s breeder.

We contacted the breeder, they approved us and put us on the list for a puppy.”

Leroy, the Maltipoo (Maltese/Poodle Mix), (part 5)

“Leroy becomes even more affectionate when we are upset.

Usually, he gives affection on his terms, but when he senses a change in our mood or behavior he is very responsive.

He worries about us.

He adds to the happiness in our house.

It’s full of love.

No matter what is going on, I want to come home and see him.”

“We’ve had a lot of losses.

Their have been deaths in our families, and friends, too.

Leroy has been there for us.

He gives us snuggles and love and I really believe he knows when we are sad or sick.

He instantly calms down and curls up on our lap or chest.”

“A month or so later she contacted us and sent us a photo of a puppy.

We knew that we had to have him and that his name had to be Leroy.

She asked if we wanted him and 10 weeks later we brought him home.

Since having Leroy,it’s been a rough year.”

“My boyfriend and I had been talking about getting a dog for a long time and he has severe dog allergies.

We met a dog who was a maltipoo from a particular breeder and he didn’t have any allergic reaction.

We met the dog through Instagram.

I reached out, and the owner gave us all the information we needed.

I did some research regarding the breeder, because it was important to us that it wasn’t a puppy mill.”
