“The dedicated dog runs and off leash hours makes having a dog much easier.

There’s also a lot more socialization with other dogs.

I have noticed that people love dogs.

In fact, I think people like dogs more than humans.

My wife and I are grateful to have a dog being a long way from home (Australia), and moving to a new city.”

“When they had a litter of three we had first pick because we were the first to put down a deposit after being approved.

Java was the only apricot and he had a white heart on his forehead, so we knew he was going to be ours.

We’ve had him since October 7th.

The best and worst thing about having Java, is that he is still a puppy.”

“For me, Tina is the first taste of having to be responsible for another being and loving it unconditionally.

My wife, Tina and I feel like a proper family unit, now.

Having a dog is a beautiful and enriching experience. “

“It’s just so comforting to come home after work to such a loving dog.

We went home to the U.K. for three weeks over Christmas, and had to leave her in NYC.

We missed her so much.

I came back before my wife, and when I picked her up from the dog sitter, we were both so happy to see each other.

Tina leapt into my arms.”

MABEL, THE JINDO,CAIRN TERRIER, CHIHUAHUA RESCUE FROM KOREA (SHE SAID, PART 5)

“We have lived near Central Park for almost a decade and we never really saw it before Mabel.

she has guided us to different corners of the park, and we have explored areas that are new and exciting.

She is teaching us to see the world through her curious and soulful eyes.

Mabel has changed our lives for the better.

She has brought so much laughter into our daily life and gives us a purpose.

In the morning, when we wake up, she lies between us, and just her presence makes us happy.

She makes a happy sound, that my husband wants to record and use as his phone ring.

It’s a joyful way to start the day.”

“My husband is a great dad.

We have both managed our work and time so that we can take care of Mabel.

I work at an office, but my husband can work remotely part of the time.

He gets to take care of her during the day, and I know it’s not easy to take his mind off work.

He is very focused on his job, and the only thing that can break that concentration is Mabel.

Mabel gives us both a break from work,  and focusing on ourselves and our careers.

We are both driven people and society encourages that way of being.

Having Mabel has inspired us to slow down and appreciate the moments of day to day life, and live in the present tense.”

“We started following Korean K9 Dog Rescue’s website and saw Mabel’s photograph four months later.

I looked at her picture every day for 11 days.

I found out there was an event happening in Long Island City.

We waited on line for over an hour and a half to meet her.

I looked for her, but she wasn’t in the center, playing with the other rambunctious puppies.

She was off in a corner, curled up in a little ball.

She was already a year old and was so calm.”

“We worry about Mabel and try to make her happy as a team.

She gets really excited when my wife and I kiss each other.

She runs over to us with great joy, so sometimes we kiss just to call Mabel over to us.

She wants to be a part of us coming together.

It’s a beautiful thing.

It’s funny and amazing.”

“Mabel has a toe infection and we couldn’t tell, but she was limping sporadically.

We went to the vet for her bordatella vaccine and asked the Dr. to take a look at her toe and found out that she had an infection and needed antibiotics as well as toe soaking and pain medication.

We are still learning as we go.

My wife and I are both career people.

We have been married for 15 years and have very busy lives, and occasionally find ourselves out of sinc– just in our everyday existence.

I think Mabel is a galvanizing force that brings us together.”

“Honestly, it was scary, because we didn’t know what we were doing.

We learned by trial and error and reading the internet.

We became our veterinarian’s best customer.

You hear stories about new parents calling Dr.’s all the time, and it was basically the same thing.

She doesn’t eat regularly and we were so worried that we bought 10 different types of food.

We got her about five months ago and have come a long way, though we still worry that we are doing things right.”
