“Since having Kiwi, we moved to New York, from Palo Alto and she provided great companionship throughout the move.

We weren’t as close to a dog park in California, so New York is great for her because she loves the dog park.

Having Kiwi has given me another creature to care for and my maternal instincts have kicked in.

The three of us make a nice little family.”

“It was difficult at first because she wanted to sleep with me, but my roommate didn’t want her in our bedroom, so she was relegated to the living room.

She cried and scratched at the door, so I got a trainer and I practiced going in and out of the bedroom and not responding when she cried or scratched at the door.”

“It was a foster to adopt process and I had a week to decide if I wanted to keep her, but

I was convinced from the first minute, when she hopped on my lap, that she would be mine.

I had a few roommates, so they had to get to know her and approve.

It took a little convincing with some of my roommates, but by the week’s end, everyone approved.

M boyfriend was visiting, and he had to approve, too.”

“I liked the expression on her face and they described her as being quiet.

Also, I lived in a no dog allowed apartment.

To get past the no dog rule, I got a letter from a therapist saying, I needed her for emotional support, which I did.

I didn’t hear for a few days, but when I followed up, they told me to come and pick her up.

I left work and picked her up an hour later.”

“The complications  of adopting a dog whose history is unknown and figuring out her quirks can be difficult.

She can be possessive of things, which leads me to think maybe she was on the street and had to fight for something, anything.

She doesn’t show signs of abuse but she has some anxious habits (like all her unusual sound effects).”

“If you give in to your dogs every request and desire that is not an ideal relationship– then you become the pet and she is the master.

We have an understanding.

Every bath comes with lots of treats.

The pros far outweigh the cons.”
