“Leroy becomes even more affectionate when we are upset.

Usually, he gives affection on his terms, but when he senses a change in our mood or behavior he is very responsive.

He worries about us.

He adds to the happiness in our house.

It’s full of love.

No matter what is going on, I want to come home and see him.”

“We’ve had a lot of losses.

Their have been deaths in our families, and friends, too.

Leroy has been there for us.

He gives us snuggles and love and I really believe he knows when we are sad or sick.

He instantly calms down and curls up on our lap or chest.”

“A month or so later she contacted us and sent us a photo of a puppy.

We knew that we had to have him and that his name had to be Leroy.

She asked if we wanted him and 10 weeks later we brought him home.

Since having Leroy,it’s been a rough year.”

“Once I felt sure that they were good breeders, I sent them an email and she told us that she would let us know when she had a puppy that would meet our needs.

We were looking for a specific size and temperament.

We decided that we wanted to train our future dog to be a therapy dog.

We want to volunteer with kids and wanted the right dog for the job.”

“My boyfriend and I had been talking about getting a dog for a long time and he has severe dog allergies.

We met a dog who was a maltipoo from a particular breeder and he didn’t have any allergic reaction.

We met the dog through Instagram.

I reached out, and the owner gave us all the information we needed.

I did some research regarding the breeder, because it was important to us that it wasn’t a puppy mill.”

“He ran across two avenues with me chasing.

Luckily, he rain down a muse that was a dead end, because that was the only way I could have gotten him back.

He is a squirrel chaser, so I am scared to let him off leash.

Kai is so loving.

When he and I wake up in the morning he rolls over for me to pet his stomach.

I am just as glad to see him, as he is to see me.”

“I just recently retired and having Kai gives me a routine and a schedule.

I still mourn the cat, and realize that Kai is not a substitute.

I used to get maybe 8,000 or 9,000 steps on my Fitbit, but now I get 10,000 by 2 pm.

He runs much faster than I do.

I know this, because he ran away from me twice in Rockaway.”

“I was as nervous as could be.

Finally, I got the call, one and get the baby.

He was with his foster mom in Manhattan.

I picked him up and took him to Rockaway, and BAM, I had a puppy to take care of.

We moved to Manhattan in October and he has adjusted very well.

He loves the smells, but hates the noise.”

“I went through Rescue Dogs Rock, while living in Rockaway.

They offered me a Maltese/Chinese Crested mutt with three legs who was one and a half years old.

I took him.

When I saw his photograph, I fell in love with his face instantly.

I applied for him, filled out a long form, had a phone interview and then had a house visit.

I was approved.”

“My late husband and I had a cat and the cat was his beloved cat.

We had agreed when the cat passed away, we would get a dog.

My husband died three years ago and the cat died last summer.

I went online in late June looking for a rescue dog.

I wanted an adult poodle.”
