ANUBIS, THE PAPILLON/CHIHUAHUA MIX AND DIMA, THE POMERANIAN/HUSKY MIX (PART 4)

“The litter was running around in open farmland and playing with one another.

I met them and spotted him immediately, because he was the only one with different colored eyes.

I got to pick him up, and I loved him right away.

He was less fluffy and looked more wild.

I didn’t see the Pomeranian in him, but I didn’t care.”

“I looked at the same place in the Amish Country, where we got Anubis, Greenfield Puppies, because it is not a puppy mill and their dogs turn out well.

Dima is what’s called a Pomsky; a Pomeranian Husky mix.

When I saw him, he stood out to me.

He looked like he was smiling in the photograph, and he has one blue eye and one brown eye.

When I when to Greenfield Puppies, it was just the way I hoped it would be.”

“Two veterinarians said he is a Papillon Chihuahua mix (Chion), and it’s pretty obvious.

He has Chihuahua eyes.

After having Anubis for six months, I decided to get another dog.

I wanted a Husky since I was little but living in a NYC apartment, we thought a smaller version would be better in our space.

I started looking at Husky mixes.”

“Anubis came first.

My girlfriend was a cat person who didn’t really like dogs, but I convinced her to get a dog.

She decided to get a small dog.

She met a Papillon that she liked and decided this was the dog for her.

After researching online, she found a breeder in the Amish Country that she liked, with favorable reviews.

We found out that he was a mix because his fur kept growing but he didn’t.”

OTTO, THE STRONG WILLED MINIATURE LONG HAIRED DACHSHUND (SHE SAID, PART 3)

“I read about what to ask breeders.

We asked if we could meet the parents, literally.

She is a small breeder who has eight dogs and only has three or four litters per year.

She has great testimonials, and we got to meet Otto’s parents.

It is a great and healthy environment for the dogs.

We waited a month and a half for a litter and have had him since the day after Thanksgiving,”

OLIVE, THE FRENCH BULLDOG THAT WANTS TO PLAY 24/7 (PART 3)

“Someone at my dog park in New Jersey, had a Frenchie who I really liked and I reached out to their breeder and she was about to have a litter.

She told me that I needed to reserve a dog, because they bred very conservatively and would be spoken for quickly.

At the time I wanted a male, but when she sent me photos of the litter, I fell in love with Olive’s face and knew she was the puppy for me.”

BARCLEY, THE IRISH TERRIER THAT KEEPS LIFE LIGHT AND APPRECIATES THE LITTLE THINGS (PART 2)

“The breed club has a matchmaker.

She spoke with me on the phone and made a match.

The matchmaker asked tons of questions.

They are very protective of the breed.

She matched me to a man in Philly and a woman in New Hampshire.

We met the breeder in Philly before the puppies were born.

The mom-to-be was about to have an ultrasound the next day and he found out she was having fewer puppies than he originally thought.”

ELLIE (SHORT FOR ELEPHANT), THE FRENCH BULLDOG THAT IS AN ENTERTAINING CLOWN, AND GREAT COMFORT (PART 3)

“After hearing my personal story (because I had to fill out a form explaining why I wanted a French Bulldog, on her website before even being eligible for one of her pups), she offered to sell me the Ellie, for the price of the cream puppy.

I pretty much knew at that moment that I wanted her.

That was in August and I picked her up a month later.

Ellie has been great for my parents and me.

It’s a new life in our house.”

Preston, the Failed Show Dog Rescue, And Scarlet, the Black Labrador Mix, Rescue (Part 2)

IMG_6339

“We went to Pennsylvania, adopted him and called him Preston.

Preston got us through our mourning period and we gave him a new (free) life.

He had been crated, going from show to show, and he was now free.

Two years after we got Preston, (I had always wanted two dogs), we were looking to rescue a dog as a companion for Preston, as well as loving dogs.”

“We got Preston as a result of a sad event.

We’ve always had Vizsla’s and Preston is our third.

Our first Vizsla, Lucas died at 15 years old, and we got a puppy soon after, called Theo.

We were on vacation and Theo was hit by a car at 20 months and died instantly.

We were devastated and a breeder friend of ours called and said he had a male Vizsla that was a six month old failed show dog that needed a home.”
