I followed a number of rescue organizations on Instagram and saw an image of Bailey on See Spot Rescued, and I fell in love with her.

My husband and I applied right away.

They checked out our references pretty quickly and then we went to meet her.”

“I’ve always volunteered for different animal organizations.

Guiding eyes for the blind was one, and more recently, Bad Ass Brooklyn Rescue.

Working with the rescue animals inspired me to adopt a rescue dog.”

“He loves little kids and likes to lick their hands and faces.

I think he genuinely wants to make them smile.

He is not a food or treat driven dog.

Getting love and affection is motivation for Murphy.”

“Murphy helps me to relax.

I found a lump in my breast and felt instantly afraid, without any instant resolution.

I had two weeks of living in fear, but Murphy helped take my mind off of what was happening with me.

Murphy also makes me laugh.

He is still a puppy so he’s very clumsy and friendly.”

“He really got me out of my head.

He initiated walks outside and it was great to have something that depended on me, so I couldn’t give in to my feelings of isolation.

He is insistent on staying in the moment, so I can’t linger on anything too long.”

“Two things have happened since I’ve had Murphy.

My father is much older and suffers from a neurological disorder and he got very sick.

It was very scary.

When I would cry, Murphy would come right up to me and snuggle.”

“I went without a specific dog in mind, and Murphy was the second dog I met.

As soon as we locked eyes we recognized something in each other.

It’s hard to describe, but it felt like we’d known each other forever.

It’s a great feeling.”

“I had been looking for a dog for about six months with various rescue groups.

I tried fostering, but hadn’t found the right fit.

Then I started talking  with a rescue group called Social Tee’s.

They specialize in rescuing dogs from high kill shelters.

They had a large adoption event in Chelsea, in December.”

NIKO, THE ALASKAN KLEE KAI (PART 5, HE SAID)

“We care for him together; he is a shared responsibility.

He adds more flue to our family.

He is also a stand-in, or partner and companion when one of us is traveling.”

“Niko has given us reason to do things that we might not have done without him.

I would’t have just gone for a walk in the park by myself, but now I take Niko and walk for hours.

Niko has brought my fiancé and me closer together.”
