“One of the clincher’s for me, was that I didn’t have to drive or fly to get her.

I told him, yes, please drop her off.

I fell in love with her immediately and my wife was in deep shock.

I then explained to her that I would do all the walking and all she had to do was feed her.

There was a slight problem- housebreaking.”

“The breeder said that he had a Lagotto that was supposed to be a show dog, but her ears wouldn’t stand up.

She was a show flunkie.

He said, he was going into the city that night and if I wanted her, he would drop her off.

Also, it was my wife’s birthday, and I thought the puppy would be a great gift, the best.”

“Toby, our last dog, a huge Wheaton Terrier, died about two and a half years ago and it was just time for a new pup.

I did a little research online.

I needed another hypoallergenic dog and I didn’t want to try to replace Toby, so I decided to get a different breed.

I wanted a female this time and a slightly smaller dog.

I called up a Lagotto breeder who I found on the web.”

“It can be fatal if not treated, or a dog doesn’t respond to steroids.

Zimmy was on steroids for an entire year.

That was seven years ago and he is still here.

I am a divorced middle aged guy and Zimmy has been my best friend.”

“About eight years ago both my sister and veterinarian noticed that Zimmy’s head shape was changing.

Instead of being round it was caved in looking.

We went to a dog neurologist and he was diagnosed with a rare German Shepherd disease, called Muscular Myelitis.

It wears away the muscle mass in the dog’s head.”

“He had crazy looking ears and a great soul.

I got him on June 1st, and I call that summer, my summer of Zimmy, because I was off from work and spent every day with him.

We went to the beach, hiked mountains or had some sort of daily adventure.

When I got him, he was about a year old.

He has been the love of my life for the past nine years.”

“Every time I went in, I visited the dogs, as I had dogs on the brain.

In fact, I had already picked out a name.

I was writing a book at the time and one of the chapters was on Bob Dylan, so I knew I wanted to call the dog, Zimmerman.

The third time there, I passed two huge German Shepherds, and in the same cage was a small Shepherd mix cowering in the corner.

I told the worker that I wanted to see that dog, and within two minutes, he was my dog.”

“I was living in Los Angeles and bought a beautiful old gem of a house that had a doggy door leading to a backyard.

As soon as I saw the doggy door I started thinking it was time to get a dog.

Before I could act on it, a stray cat had a litter of eight kittens in my backyard.

I called the local rescue shelter and they told me people don’t adopt feral kittens, so I should trap them, get them neutered and re-release them into the neighborhood.

As a result, I was going to the shelter once a week, and looking at dogs up for adoption.”

JARVIS, THE GOLDEN DOODLE PUPPY THAT WAS BORN THE DAY WE GOT ENGAGED (PART 5, HE SAID)

IMG_1369

“One of the best times since having Jarvis was when he was a tiny puppy and was so small and carefree.

He had a real innocence.

It took me out of the business of life.

He was a great distraction from the stress and pressures of daily life.

Also, on of the awesome things about Jarvis is that he was boron the day I proposed and my fiancĂ© said, yes.”

“My fiancĂ© has been more accommodating by respecting my wishes and not letting Jarvis on the sofa.

Raising Jarvis together has made us a better team.

We make decisions together.

We have learned to trust each other’s opinions and are willing to accept the opinions of one another.

We are flexible with each other.

No one is ever completely wrong.”
